The Northern Powerhouse is a project that former chancellor George Osborne launched in 2014 to rebalance the North of the UK politically and economically, steering away from London and the South East. This controversial plan is an opportunitunity to explore new theoretical approaches to infrastructure and dispersed cities in a data-diven era.

This research project looks at global cities and parameters which classify them in terms of 'globality', comparing Manchester's present and future schemes to cities like San Francisco and Barcelona, aiming to become the global capital of The North.
